Cast Me Not Away
Cast Me Not Away
Cast me not from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:11
The most horrific consequence of sin is that it forces us to forfeit the manifest presence of God. Hell is the consequence of a life of sin where the ultimate tragedy is realized—we eternally forfeit the manifest presence of God in Christ.
Once you gain an appetite for the manifest presence of Christ, your desire for His presence will continually lead you in genuine and sincere repentance.
David was a deceiver, an adulterer, and a murder, but the consequence of the sin that he dreaded most was forfeiting the manifest presence of God. He cried out in repentance from the depth of his soul, “Cast me not from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.”
Take this opportunity today to come clean from sin. Let repentance hit bottom in your soul. As gross as your sin may be, there is nothing more horrifying than settling for the fleeting pleasures of sin while forfeiting the ultimate fulfillment that comes from enjoying God’s manifest presence.
O Lord, I embrace repentance. I desire the pleasures of Your presence more than the pleasure of sin. Please have mercy on me and whatever You do, do not take Your presence from me. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
