He Wakens Me
He wakens me morning by morning. He wakens my ear to hear like one being taught.
Isaiah 50:4 NIV ‘84
There is no better way to start the day than by being awakened by the voice of God speaking in your ear. Sometimes minutes before your alarm goes off, and sometimes in the middle of the night, God will awaken you to pray. Rather than being annoyed by God’s wake up calls, if you train yourself to obey the prompting of the Holy Spirit, those moments will be the most precious, the most inspirational, the most creative, and the most productive moments in your day.
Since God can give us dreams while we are sleeping and visions while we are awake, He can certainly manifest His presence to us on the transition between these moments. Rather than rolling over, grabbing your pillow, and hoping for a few more minutes of rest, get out of bed, go to your God-spot, grab your journal, and start writing down what God is speaking to you. Just think of the advantages: your mind is fresh, you’re not in a hurry, your spirit is more responsive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and you must admit, you’ve got nothing better to do! Would you not agree that a few minutes of sleep are not worth as much as a word from God?
Father God, I want You to waken me morning by morning. Waken my ear to listen like one being taught.
