Your Two Enemies
Your Two Enemies
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:13 NIV ‘84
Every day you get out of bed, you face two enemies—sin and satan. Toward the culmination of our Lord’s carefully crafted prayer pattern, He strategically places a prayer that deals with both the enemy on the inside (sin), and the enemy on the outside (satan). Lead us not into temptation—sin, the enemy within. But deliver us from the evil one- satan, the enemy without. We often stumble when we think we can defeat these enemies without God’s help.
An essential part of Christ-encountering prayer is encountering Christ in the trenches of conflict. Today, you have opportunity to defeat your two greatest enemies in Jesus’ name.
Father God, I humble myself and acknowledge before heaven and earth, that I cannot resist sin nor satan on my own. In Christ, however, I am more than a conquer. Today, empower me to say no to sin and to resist the devil. I am an overcomer, in Jesus’ name.
