Fire on Each One

 Fire on Each One

Fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. Acts 2:3

The entire early church met God in the fire. There were no exceptions. On the day of Pentecost, the Bible explicitly says, “Fire appeared on them and rested on each one of them” (Acts 2:3). The next sentence goes on to unpack what the manifestation of fire was all about, “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:4). No exceptions.

This is the prototype for normal Christianity. God wants His church filled with the Spirit and filled with the fire of the manifest presence of Christ. The single factor that distinguishes the church from the sports bar and the fitness center down the street is the manifest presence of Christ. It was true then; it is true today.

Lord Jesus, I repent of thinking for a moment that the fire of Your manifest presence was intended for only a select few. Forgive me also for living without Your manifest presence in my daily life. Set me on fire and set my church on fire with Your manifest presence today.
