Led to the Wilderness

Led to the Wilderness

“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit…was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.”  Luke 4:1

We all want to be led by the Holy Spirit. We love it when the Holy Spirit leads us up on the mountain, or to the front of the line, or into the spotlight. But when was the last time the Holy Spirit led you into the wilderness—did you obey His leading?

When Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit at the front end of His ministry, before He was ever led in front of the crowds, He was led into the wilderness—led into solitude. As much as we love the Holy Spirit to elevate us, we need to be willing to be led into solitude and even isolation. The Holy Spirit is just as interested in cultivating your inner life, as He is interested in expanding your public ministry.

Has the Holy Spirit led you into the wilderness lately? Take time right now and tell the Holy Spirit you are willing to follow Him wherever He leads you.

Holy Spirit, I seek You now in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ—lead me in front of thousands or in total solitude and isolation. I will obey Your leadership, no matter where You choose to take me.
