Your Faith Mentor
"Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." Hebrew 12:2 KJV
As you grow in Christ, you grow in faith and as you grow in faith, you grow in Christ. It’s not one without the other, but it is one in front of the other. When it comes to faith-building, you want Jesus to go first.
It is never your responsibility to grow your own faith. Don’t even try to carry that load—it is too heavy a burden for anyone to bear. Only Jesus is capable of growing your faith, and He is an expert at it. Settle the matter today. Officially enlist yourself in Christ’s School of Faith. You can trust Him.
The reason this issue matters is because if you are your source of faith, then you are ultimately trusting in yourself. If Christ is your faith-source, then you are truly trusting in Him.
In reality, Christ is both your faith-source and your faith-object—both your faith author and your faith finisher.
Be free, my friend. Remove the heavy weight from around your neck of trying to build your own faith. You were never designed to do that. Put your faith squarely on the shoulders of Christ. He is your faith mentor.
Loving Father, today I take Christ as my faith mentor. I trust in Christ both as my faith-source and my faith-object.
