Sanctifying Spirit

Sanctifying Spirit

According to the Spirit of holiness… Romans 1:4

The Holy Spirit specializes in doing for us what would be impossible for us to do for ourselves. The Spirit of God is frequently identified as the Holy Spirit, or the “Spirit of Holiness,” because when it comes to making us holy, He has the corner on the market. He empowers us to put sin to death. We are told in Romans 8:13, “If by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” When was the last time, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you put sin to death in your own life?

Once we have dealt with the enemy of sin, we can by the same Spirit receive the positive power of holiness. Too often we think of holiness as a negative -- what we can’t do. Holiness is actually a very positive empowerment. We need to understand that holiness is one of the most positive forces at work in our lives.

Take time right now to identify a specific stubborn sin in your own life. It shouldn’t take long. Repent. Renounce the sin. Put it to death by the power of the Holy Spirit. By the same Spirit receive an impartation of the positive power of holiness to obey God.

New obedience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Every revival starts with new obedience to God.

Father God, I do repent of (name the specific sin). I put it to death, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Fill me now with the positive power of holiness, so that I might walk in obedience from this time forward.
