Total Forgiveness
As we forgive others… Matthew 6:12
The devil will tell you unforgiveness, resentment, retaliation is the greatest power on earth. He is a liar. The greatest power on earth is forgiveness. The only Person who could ever effectively lead us in a forgiveness revolution was God Himself, and He does it every day in the Person of Christ.
Total forgiveness is forgiveness that genuinely flows from the heart. When Jesus taught forgiveness to His disciples, holding them to the standard of forgiving seventy times seven, He told them that they must forgive from their heart (Matthew 18:35).
Today, God wants to lead you in Christ-encountering forgiveness. He wants to lead you to receive forgiveness from Him so that you will then be qualified to extend His forgiveness to others.
Take a moment right now and consider who has hurt you. Who has offended you? Who do you fear? Against whom are you angry? Where does this resentment and bitterness still live in you?
If you want to encounter Christ today, there is no more relevant place to encounter Him than by voluntarily extending true forgiveness to someone who has hurt you. Essentially, forgiveness is saying to someone, “I will not hurt you for hurting me.”
