Accept Yourself

Accept Yourself

“You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, ‘He did not make me’; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding’?” Isaiah 29:16

God not only wants you to accept Him for who He is, he wants you to accept yourself for who you are. The only way to know yourself and accept yourself for who you are, is to see yourself from God’s perspective.

The prophet Isaiah put his finger on a major battle-line many people fight against— self-acceptance.

You may strive your whole life against the way God made you. Like the clay complaining to the potter, why did you make me this way— what were you thinking?

God has set certain parameters around you that largely determine your identity— your parents and ethnicity, your height, gender, the color of your eyes and hair, IQ, fingerprints, and basic appearance.

The sooner you accept yourself the way God made you, the sooner you can learn to live life to the full, the way God intended.

If there is one particular aspect of the way God created you that you have been angry about or resentful, you are ungrateful, and today is a good day to repent.

Christ loves you, he made you just the way you are for a purpose, and he wants you to accept yourself.

Loving Father, I repent of my ungratefulness and I choose today to accept myself for who I am in Jesus’ name.
