A Promise— Better Than a Resolution
“He has granted to us his precious and very great promises.” 2 Peter 1:4
Why settle for a New Year’s resolution when you can take hold of a promise from God! A New Year’s resolution starts with your will; a Bible promise starts with God’s word. Don’t trust yourself when you can trust God.
Every promise from God is on fire—that is, they are intended to lead you to encounter the fire of God’s manifest presence.
God wants to train your eye to recognize his promises as you read the Bible. It is helpful to mark all the promises in red ink as you read. This will not only help you develop an eye for the promises, but a growing appreciation of just how precious and very great his promises truly are!
Discovering Bible promises will help you recognize God’s prophetic promises that he will speak to your spirit in prayer. Now is the time to take hold of what is rightfully yours. Take hold of this promise.
Loving Father, open my eyes that I may recognize the promises of God in Scripture. Open my ears that I might hear your prophetic promises to me in prayer in Jesus’ name. I take my rightful place in Christ—I died with Christ to my sinful desires, and I am raised with Christ to partake of his divine nature. Because I am in Christ, all the promises of God are mine.
