Maine on Fire
“He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” Matthew 3:11
On this day, August 5, in the year of our Lord 1907, a large number of people sought the infilling of the Holy Spirit at the Old Orchard Convention in Maine. They not only asked, but they received.
There were many profound manifestations of the blessing of the Holy Spirit, including spontaneous and harmonious heavenly music, power, and a profound sense of unshakeable love. More than one hundred people gathered in lingering prayer late into the night for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They received tongues, interpretation, holy laughter and joyous songs of praise. There was brokenness, repentance and confession of sin. There was also a profound sense of the fire of God’s presence and the Shekinah glory of God among them.
Loving Father, baptize me new in the Holy Spirit and fire, for Jesus Christ’s sake.
