The Word of God Revives the Soul
“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul!” Psalm 19:7
David says two things in this verse: First, "the law of the LORD is perfect" and second, it “revives the soul!”
David did not have the whole Bible to consult, but he had the full record of the statutes and precepts God had given to Israel. The law that God had given to Israel in written form was flawless. Because it is perfect, as delivered from God, it has the potential to revive the soul!
In the Hebrew, the phrase revive the soul literally means to bring back to life! The Bible, as we obey it, has the ability to bring life to dead places, particularly our soul!
It is easy for our souls to become tarnished with the circumstances of life. Friends, let’s face it, we live in a fallen world. None of us have a perfect soul. We all need to unpack the suitcase of our soul. We all need healing and deliverance. Our soul’s need to be revived. This verse has great news!
