The Power of Testimony

The Power of Testimony
Rebecca Holcomb

“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10b

Information, facts, and knowledge reach the head but not the heart. We can argue about truth all we want, but when we give a testimony, it goes straight to the heart. Jesus shared stories because they cross from the left-brain intellect into the right brain and experience is shared and becomes personal. God is spirit and we worship him in spirit and truth. Truth shared in a testimony latches onto people’s hearts and allows them to experience God by hearing what he did for them.

Revival will happen when the children of God stand up and give testimony of all that God has done for them. The God stories need to be told so that the character of God is made known. I personally find it much easier to witness (give testimony) when I can tell a personal story that creates a hunger for God in others. We know from history that all revival starts with hunger. Your God stories will create hunger in others. When you share an answer to your prayer, others will begin to pray.

Religion does not like testimony because it can't be controlled. Maybe you have encountered this when you shared a testimony with another believer, and they were offended instead of hungry for more. Don’t let that stop you.

Lord Jesus, I worship you in spirit and in truth. I ask you Holy Spirit to bring hunger from my testimony. I bind every religious spirit that silences testimonies of Jesus. I humbly release my God stories into my environment to encourage faith and hunger that will lead to revival now. Jesus, bring revival to me, give me a fresh testimony to share today.
