Don’t Wait

Day 2
Don’t Wait

Jon Mitchell

I’ve noticed over the years that many Christians spend a lot of time praying for revival in our churches and nations, and rightly so, we should. However, what about revival in our own life? If I truly want revival now, it can happen, but perhaps not where I would expect, and sometimes not the place, if I’m honest, where I desire it—in my own life. While I cannot force God’s hand, I can cash in on the many promises he has already made to me for an immediate personal revival—for revival now.

“Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20
“...for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Throughout the Bible promises such as these are made by God that he desires to reveal his presence to us, and in its simplest form, that’s how we can define revival—an encounter with the personal, manifest, reviving presence of God. Revival must always begin in our own hearts first. Before we can expect God to revive our families, our churches, or our communities, we must expect Him, and ask Him, to revive us first. With that in mind, you don’t have to wait for revival to come. It can come now as we allow the life-giving presence of God to revive the dead, complacent, and lukewarm parts of our life.

Father, right now I ask for you to come and reveal yourself to me in a fresh way. I claim these promises, and I hold them out before you, the Promise Keeper. Come to me. Revive me now. Awaken parts of my life that have been dead or complacent for too long. In Jesus name.
