2022 Breakthrough Fast: Day 17

Praying Promises

The Bible is filled with literally thousands of promises for those who trust in God. I love to pray promises from Scripture because I know they are the prayers that God will answer. He is who He says He is, and He does what He says He will do! There is an incredible increase to our faith when we pray something God has already promised He will do! Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” (NLT) In Joshua 21:45 it says, “Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.” (NLT)

Promises in Scripture are like checks God has given us…we can take them to the bank and get a withdrawal at any time. Here are some specific promises you might consider praying:

Promise: “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Prayer: “Father, Your promise is that You will reward those who seek You. I’m seeking You. Would You reward me with Your presence? Come close to me … speak to me!”

Promise: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14)
Prayer: “Father, I’ve been praying for breakthrough in my marriage. I know it’s Your will that we be unified. I’m asking according to Your will, and I know You hear me. I’m asking for You to release Your breakthrough for us now.”

Promise: “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Prayer: “Father, Your word promises that You will supply all of my needs. I lay the need of ______ at Your feet and I’m asking that You meet it according to the promise You gave.”

Spend time praying these promises today!

Grace and peace,
Jon Mitchell
