God Your Provider

God Your Provider

“So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, ’On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’” Genesis 22:14

The act of giving your money away does not come naturally. Tithing defies logic. Giving offerings is entirely counterintuitive. Most people who practice faithful stewardship can point to one moment in their lives when they encountered the reality— The Lord will provide.

Abraham faced the crisis of his life when God asked him to take his son, his only son, his miracle-son born to him at age ninety-nine, to be sacrificed. What a crisis moment! Even without a promise, Abraham took a step of faith and obedience. Early in the morning, he saddled up, and took his son to sacrifice him. While he did not have a new promise from God, he knew the character of God and he trusted it.

The New Testament says about Abraham’s faith in God’s character, “He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back” (Hebrews 11:19.)

You may be facing a defining moment today— a crisis of faith regarding your finances. Abraham passed the test, and God calls you a child of Abraham. You have what you need today to pass your test.

The Lord will provide. And that is a promise.

Loving Father, I declare my complete trust in your ability to provide for all my financial needs today in Jesus name.
