Look At The Birds
“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26
Fear about finances is one of our most common battle-lines, and the promises of God are our weapon.
On the front end of Jesus mentoring with his disciples, he taught extensively on financial faith— that God is the provider of all our essential, daily financial needs. Rather than striving after more, Jesus taught his disciples to be content with what they have.
It was humbling for the ambitious, young disciples to be told, Look at the birds of the air.
Do you think a chickadee gets ulcers worrying about its next meal?
Do you think a horned owl stays up at night anxious about its retirement plan?
Do you think a ruby-throated grosbeak ever has an anxiety attack?
Yes, it is humbling to look at the birds, but humbling yourself is exactly what you need. Pride, selfish ambition, and self-dependence cause financial fear.
Humility, contentment, and God-dependence bring financial faith and trust.
If you have been fearful over finances, humble yourself and look at the birds.
Loving Father, I humble myself and learn a mighty lesson from the birds. I renounce self-dependence, self-reliance, and selfish ambition. I put my faith in you as my provider, and I choose contentment in Jesus name.
