Two-Way Love

Two-Way Love

“‘Honor your father and mother.’ (This is the first commandment with a promise.) ‘That it may go well with you.’” Ephesians 6:2-3

God calls you into a two-way love relationship. God gives you Bible promises to express his love to you.

He gives you Bible commands so you can express your love to him.
Most Bible promises are linked to a command.
Ask (command) and you will receive (promise).
Give (command) and it shall be given to you (promise).
Seek (command) and you will find (promise).
Acknowledge him (command) and he will direct your steps (promise).

Commands and promises sit side-by-side throughout the Bible in order to demonstrate the fact that God wants a two-way love relationship with you. The more you receive his love by claiming the promises, the more you will be motivated to express love to him by fulfilling his commands.

Loving Father, thank you for the promises in the Bible that express to me over and over again just how much you love me. Thank you for all the commands in the Bible that give me specific ways at expressing my love for you.
