One Thing

One Thing

“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord  and to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4

Christ calls you to be a person of one thing.

David had a heart for one thing— the manifest presence of Christ. He was not simply a God-seeker, he was a one-thing-from-God seeker. David was a seeker of the Presence, and he expressed his seeking in three ways.
  • To dwell in the house of prayer all his days.
  • To gaze on the beauty of the Lord.
  • To inquiry, or to seek, him.
The same God who gave David a one-thing seeking heart, wants to give you a one-thing seeking heart today.

Father God, I humble myself and seek your face. Today I surrender my heart, my ambitions, my prayer list, my bucket list to you. I bow every lesser thing to your presence, and I receive from you now the gift of having a one-thing seeking heart.
