Our Christ-Encountering Sword
and take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17
The Bible is the written word, and the Lord Jesus Christ is Himself the Living Word. When you take up the sword of the Spirit today, be sure to encounter Christ in the process -- He is the Living Word.
If your Bible reading has become dry or monotonous, pray. Most likely if the Bible is dry to you, it’s because you are not encountering Christ as you read. Ask Christ to reveal Himself to you in the Bible today.
Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day saying, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me” (John 5:39). Don’t be guilty of reading the Bible and yet missing Christ. God wants you to encounter Christ everyday in the Word.
Father God, today I take the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. I praise You for both the written word and the Living Word.
