Our Christ-Encountering Shield
In all circumstances, take up the shield of faith. Ephesians 6:16
When you take up the shield of faith today, be sure to encounter Christ in the process. Christ is your Protector and He will shield you from all evil.
There are many flaming arrows that the evil one shoots at us—lies, mockery, accusations, temptation, fears, and other evil spirits. The enemy knows when we are most vulnerable, and that’s when he shoots his arrows against us.
Our shield is more beneficial than the Roman shield; the Roman shield would intercept the flaming arrows of the enemies, but it would not extinguish the splattering of flaming tar that would burn the skin and wound the soldiers. Our shield—the Lord Jesus Christ Himself—not only intercepts the flaming arrows, but He is capable of extinguishing the flame altogether.
God not only wants you to be equipped for battle, He wants you to be smart in the way you utilize his weaponry. If you have been wounded in battle, apply the shield of faith today to heal the places in your soul where you have been burned by the unkind, insensitive, and wounding words of others.
Father God, I praise You that the Lord Jesus Christ was wounded for me. Today, I lift up Christ as my shield of faith and apply His protection to the arrows being shot at me, I also apply His healing to my wounded places.
