Let God Decide
Let God Decide
“Let it be known today that You are God in Israel.” 1 Kings 18:36
Yes, Elijah met God in the fire, but when it comes right down to it, Elijah never prayed for fire. Instead, he simply prayed for the manifest presence of God to be made tangibly known to God’s people.
His prayer was simple and straightforward. Let it be known today that You are God in Israel.
Since the power encounter between Elijah and the prophets of Baal depended on God sending fire, you would expect Elijah to mention fire in his prayer. But he never did.
There is an important lesson here—God wants us to seek His manifest presence, not a particular manifestation. When we seek God’s presence, God is free to choose how He wants to manifest Himself. And when God does manifest Himself, the fresh encounter with His presence will always lead us in repentance. Elijah finished his prayer, that this people may know that You, O Lord, are God, and that You have turned their hearts back again.
As you seek God today, seek His manifest presence. Let God decide what your encounter will look like.
Father God, purify my prayer for the fire of Your manifest presence. I repent of seeking a particular manifestation; I choose today to relinquish my right to tell You how to reveal Yourself. Make Yourself known today in my life any way you choose.
Please PRAY!
We are asking God for the remaining world countries and U.S.A. states to receive the training of the College of Prayer. Pray with us today for Micronesia and Montana.
This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
