Receive Forgiveness

Receive Forgiveness

Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Luke 5:8

There are normally five elements to an encounter with Christ. The first is high worship. The second is deep repentance. The third is receiving forgiveness for sins and, when necessary, deliverance from evil strongholds.

When Peter saw the full force of the supernatural power of Christ at the unmistakable miracle of a boatload-sized catch of fish, he fell down at Jesus’ feet and cried, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man.” Peter had been with Jesus previously, but had never personally encountered the miraculous presence of God until this moment. This encounter with the deity of Christ led him in repentance, forgiveness, and freedom. Jesus then validated Peter by saying, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men” (Luke 5:10).

Not only does an encounter with the manifest presence lead us in deep repentance, it leads us to freedom and forgiveness.

Loving Father, I cry out to You in repentance, “I am a sinful person!” I receive from You forgiveness and freedom, in Jesus’ Name.

This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
